Welcome to my online workspace

'Neil Herbert is a Liverpool based photographer with a focus on people and places. He specialises in commercial and editorial photography and is regularly commissioned to work on a variety of corporate, editorial, architectural, and product projects. He is a highly versatile portrait and location photographer.'

I started taking photographs at the age of nine when I became the proud owner of an immensely cool Kodak Instamatic camera. Kodak Instamatic camera. This camera was from the days when photography used to be a big deal and each shot cost money! It used disposable flash cubes which let off little explosions of light that added excitement and an element of drama everytime I took a photograph. I continued to use this already out of date camera for the next few years until the hard to find film cartridges and illusive flash cubes sadly ceased to exist. The instamatic was eventually laid to rest but my new found love of photography was about to take on a metamorphosis when the SLR found its way into my hands.

I now use professional Canon SLR bodies and lenses that meet all of my requirements. My passion for photography has taken me to some incredible places around the world and has also given me the opportunity to work with and photograph some amazing people and breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, producing commissions for models, bands, solo music artists and design companies. When on a shoot I am very much the perfectionist and work to a very high standard that constantly exceeds my clients requirements producing stunning photographs that give my clients projects that extra WOW factor.

I recently had the privilage to travel in India with an old Royal Enfield motorcycle. Together we covered over 20,000 kilometers travelling from the depths of the Rajasthani desert upto the worlds highest motorable road in Kardung la high up in the Himilayas at a breathtaking 5800 meters. Along the way I discovered an abundance of incredible people, colours, landscapes and architecture. This incredible country completely captivated me and hopefully in these photographs you will be able to see why!

Whenever I get the chance I like to go out for a bit of a wander and see what delights I might come across. Here you will find some of my most recent finds. This is an ongoing collection of images!

I was recently asked to cover a charity fashion show at the Chester race course, the fashion show was showcasing up and coming models who were modelling stunning and hard to find vintage gems. The male model photographs included in this set are of James Parry a local model, these prints were used to make up part of his portfolio.

Here you will find a collection of images comissioned for music artists and bands from the Northwest. These images have been used commercially by the artists involved for promotional uses.
